Lunar Battle, the new mobile Atari game developed by game studio On5, is an entertaining city builder / space shooter available on Android and IOS mobile devices.

In the game, you take on the role of a crew of space travelers from earth who have crash landed a spacecraft on an asteroid. You must help the space travelers build a colony, while fighting space pirates. The main crew that you will work with and communicate with throughout the game are the captain, engineer, scientist, cook, and the ship's AI. Throughout the game play, you must manage your colony while battling the space pirates

From the display of the On5 logo to the title screen, and into the start of game play, Lunar Battle shows a high quality of artwork, music, and sound effects. The game begins with the crew deciding on building a colony on the asteroid, and you helping build the main warehouse before setting out into space to find some additional supplies. This is when the game mixes the first of many space shooter battles into the game.

You begin with a small colony, and must develop it into a large self sustained colony that will produce all foods and materials needed to keep your colony alive and growing. The combination of city builder and space shooter is a very interesting and entertaining concept that is done well.

According to On5, it took a large number of sketches and designs, as well as many meetings with Atari to produce the final look, feel, and game play presented at launch. During my initial game play sessions, my first impressions are that the time On5 put into the game development was well worth it. The colony building and space battles are straight forward, with a nicely developed tutorial to help you get started. Battles against the space pirates will benefit from well thought out tactics.

Lunar Battle is definitely worth a download. If you would like to try the game, click the links below.
